Hi Guys,
So I ordered Tracksports awhile ago, and finally received them in the mail. However, I got different spring rates than I expected.

I had originally ordered a 700/800 setup based on a number of recomendations floating out there. But I received a 600/700 setup. I'm wondering if I should just install the thigns, or should I go through all the hassle and exchange springs.

Givens:
- I live in Northern Cali (Bay Area). Roads aren't the greatest, but they're not beaten down like the roads in the East.
- I do not plan to track extensivelly. Perhaps 4 or 5 events a year (trying to go easy on my K03's).
- I go to Tahoe a lot, and probably value a smoother ride on the highway more than the normal AW enthusiast with tracksports.
- I be a suspension n00b (should be apparent by now).


So I guess my questions are:
- How much am I missing by not going to the higher rated spring setup? Smartass answers of 15% will not be appreciated. Any descriptions of the difference in feel and body roll control will help a lot.
- If you were in my situation, what would you do?

IMO, I'd stick with the 600/700. There is almost no body roll and this boarders on the "just little harsh side". On the HW, the ride is nice and smooth, but you'll fell the expansion joints. I drove an S w/ 700/800 and was too much for a daily. Try the 600/700, you'll be happy. If not, exchange them. Once you've done the install, the second time is a snap.

My dad says the S jiggles his brain now...lol.

it's fine on bay area roads for the most part... may be a little stiff in sf potholes. i like the ride of the higher spring rate as it almost eliminates all the floatiness at higher speeds vs. the 600/700.

since you have the springs already, i would put them on and see how you like it... if you're paying someone to do it... learn how to change it so you can swap it out yourself if 600/700 is too soft for your taste... the install is not difficult to do.

i bought mine from stasis and exchanging the springs weren't much of a problem since i drove to their shop in santa cruz to exchange them... the drive down is worth it cuz there's a bunch of twisties to test out your suspension... plus the guys at stasis are top notch.

I know I have wussy spring rates, but the roads up here in Calgary can be pretty bad, and occasionally I found the ride a little harsh, but overall is a good compromise between comfort and improved handling.

Plus STaSIS is not in "Santa Cruz" any more, they moved to Infineon Raceway @ Searspoint

soft as a babies b*tt. You want an upgraded suspension - don't go for a stock feel. Turn in is better with 700/800 - I started with softer and now I'm happy.

Hello again...its the guy with the RS6 from thunderhill, sears and laguna. I have a 2001 S4 on the way....looking for track/street car set up...car is dyno's on mustang dyno @350 wheel HP. but bone stock suspension and breaks.. not sure between tracksport and motorsprot set up.

I think we have a B6 S4 with the motorsports on it, might be able to take that for a spin.

seeing as how you're from denver, how is the ride in the snow? does the rear ever start to get twitchy?
