STFA - G12 Coolant (?)
I need to buy coolant and went to Advance Auto parts and they had no idea what I was talking about ('oh, you mean for GMs?'). To make a long story short, I have to replace a lot of coolant. Can I just use their brand?

yeah.... places like Auto Zone gave me the same stupid comments! I went to a local small Porsche/Audi/BMW service shop and they had exactly what we wanted G12!!!!

According to the spec sheet this is a suitable alternative. Note on pg 2 that
it specifically states that it meets VW/Audi G-12... specs.<ul><li><a href="http://webpages.charter.net/baldy/rialta/vw/images/radiator_dex-cool.pdf">Havoline DEX-COOL Extended Life Coolant</a></li></ul>

That may mean it is an suitable replacement for G12, but may not mix well with it.
While a flush and fill with a new mix of the Dex-cool is probably fine it's too much to risk mixing it with an already existing G12 mixture since G12 doesn't seem to play nice with other coolants.
