Default STFA for stock clutch info

Hi all,

After my APR V5 about a month ago. My seemingly ok clutch started slipping. Then It would stop slipping after a little cooldown. Then I drive again and it started slipping again.

Is this clutch cooked? Car has about 73K miles on it. And does not slip in stock mode.

If so I need some info. What is the clamp load of the Stock clutch and RS4 clutch? I am not planning on stage 3 anytime so I am looking for the best "stock" clutch that can handle the extra work stage 2+ puts out.

Thanks a bunch!!
cheers

Default RS4 is claimed to be nearly double the clamping force of the stock S4 pressure plate, should be....

....fine for stage 2+. Note that S4 and RS4 clutch friction discs are the same, only the pressure plate is different. Many seem to use RS4 pressure plate with a different friction disc for even more reliability.

Default Would the stock pressure plate be able to handle stage 2+??

Would it wear out sooner than the rs4 clutch?

thanx a bunch

Default Don't know, but since you're already slipping and it has to come apart, I would want the....

....added peace of mind the RS4 clutch kit brings to the table.

I figure about $350-400 additional expense versus simply replacing the stock friction disc and throw-out bearing.

Default If I just wanted to replace the stock setup

should I replace the entire clutch or just the friction plate and Throw-Out bearing?

Is there any reason to replace the entire thing if only the friction plate is worn out?

Thank you

Default You can get away with only doing the friction disc and throwout bearing *if* things like the

pressure plate and flywheel surface are carefully inspected and found to free of defects. Some will say it's mandatory to re-surface the flywheel, but some of us have simply been able to clean it up with an abrasive pad if in good condition.
