OK, I searched until my fingers were raw, but I cannot find a consistent answer to which brand manual trans. fluid to use (Redline or Amsoil) or which type (i.e. MTL, 75w/90, 75w/90NS, etc)
Also, which should I use for the differential?
I would like to improve the shifting (a little notchy, especially when cold).
I have 54k on my 2001 and would like to change it soon.
TIA

that seemed to be what the majority of the people here and on the A4 forums used. Shifting is slightly smoother, but its not a night&day difference.

i think the tranny spec is GL-5 so seems like Redline 75-90NS is what you want.

IMHO: flush and fill your tranny fluid, even if you have a manual trans. I just had it done (96k)...
