You cannot compare linear and progressive rate springs in that respect.
A linear rate spring has a constant resistance over a given distance. In other words, if you have a 600lb spring, it will compress 1 inch for every 600lbs of weight.
A progressive spring is non-linear in its compression. So if you take a progressive spring rated at 350lbs, it will compress 1 inch for the first 350lbs of weight. After that, unlike a linear spring, it will take more weight to compress it for the next inch of travel. This characteristic is what gives a progressive rate spring a good ride, yet still allows it to perform as well (or almost as well) as a linear rate spring.
The only way to compare one progressive spring to another is to look at a graph of the resistance of the spring over distance. Our RollControl springs start off rather soft, but rapidly increase in rate as the spring is compressed. Other brands may start off at a higher initial spring rate, but do not get as stiff as fast.
It all depends on what you are looking for in a spring as to what kind to get.
