i'm planning to get vortrag coilovers in the near future and i'm trying to determine how stiff i can go on the springs while still retaining some degree of comfort on PA roads (philly area). ;^)
corey s has recommended 600/650 springs, but i'm thinking that that might be too stiff. it'd be great if anyone knows the stock spring rates so i can make a better informed decision.

Peace.

Trying to make a comparison between the Vortrag coil-overs with a spring rate of 600/650 and the stock spring rates which are in the 300/280 range is impossible.
The biggest reason is that it's not solely the spring rate which detirmines the comfort (or lack of) in the the ride. It's the combination of spring rate and shock valving that detirmine the ride quality. While we do run stiff springs in virtually all of our sets, the ride is actually quite good. This is because every one of our suspension kits uses shocks that are perfectly mated to the spring rates that are selected for the application.
The best way to make a decision on ANY suspension product is to drive/ride in a car already so fitted. If that's not possible, then start talking with various people who use that product. Assuming something is too soft/too harsh/too whatever is a good way to become even more confused.
I sincerly hope this helps,

i'd really appreciate a ride to check them out.
if not vortrag, i'd certainly appreciate a ride with any coilover setup.
Peace.
