Default Stock tire failure

On my 1500 mile trip, I noticed a "shake" slowly build up in one of the front tires. Not an imbalance, more like running over seams in concrete roads.

I inspected the fronts yesterday, and found a large buldge on the side of the right front tire, about 1.5 inch in diameter, and sticking out about .7 in in the middle.

I replaced it with the spare, which was fortunately set up for proper rotation on the right side, so I can just leave it.

But now, I have a warrenty issue. Who do I take this to, the dealer, or a tire store?

And is there a trend building of such failures, I recall another report a week or so back?

Default Tire store...

The tires are warrantied by the tire manufacturer, so find someone who carries Bridgestone. They will more than likely say it is a cosmetic issue and nothing to worry about (BTDT). I would still try to get them to replace it though. HTH

Default Contact the dealer and ask them for the contact info for Bridgestone...

They will be able to give you the information on Bridgestone and you can call them, find out where to take it and deal with them that way.

I did this with Goodyear on the A4s stock RSAs. But the tire had 30k+ on it, and I already had purchased SP8000s to replace them, so I just had them chuck the tire. But most likely they will pro-rate a large % of the replacement tire.

Default Live in CT where its really cold. On vacation in Miami Beach. Last vacation (more)

for my wife and I before our first child is due, this June. I do miss the S4, this Sebring convertible just doesn't cut it.

Default Don't bother with contacting dealership.....

You have to go to an authorized Bridgestone dealer to make a warranty claim. At best they will cover 50% of the tire. At worst- nothing.
Same thing happened to me. I got 50% but tire was only 5 days old.

Default Here in Houston alone, myself, Drew (2 tires) and don P. have all had Bridgestone tire failures...

Most of the Firestone/Bridgestone dealers seem to acknowledge it's a defective tire, but then you're in to the prorated replacement warranty thing. It does seem that these tires aren't up to the task of the S4's demands.

Default My experience with similar problem, different manufacture

I owned a Lexus LS400 and after 18,000 miles the car developed a vibration.

It was determined to be the tires They, the dealer thru Lexus, simply replaced them at the
dealership with 4 new. no charges, with in a week, and with extreme apologies for my trouble.

This is difference between Mfgs. I love my S4 as I did the A4 before it, but have little
confidence in the AOA organization or in my dealer to act on my interests. They ,in Germany,
make a wonderful product but that's only part of the transaction.
It makes me rather sad. If the GS 300 came with a turbo and awd guess where I would be.
