what he was up against!
I used to own that era Firebird (6 cyl - 165 hp) and know that it can't my stock S4 (tip), or my 1986 Porsche 951 (chipped) for that matter.
I was heading up Rte 611 N (Broad St.) in Philly towards Montgomery Ctny (northern Philly suburb).
I noticed the Firebird racing a Honda Civic and kicking its ****. I paced both cars for a few blocks until the Honda gave up.
The Firebird (it was Aqua colored like my old one) driver was feeling good - jumping off at lights after spanking the Honda.
I discreetly pulled into the left lane (2 lane street) at the next light and hit him with the AWD launch!
I knew that he couldn't handle the S4 - and sure enough - he struggled off the line (in comparison) - like a horse whipped puppy. From that point on - he was watching my S4's ****.
Several times he tried to overtake me - NFW! We hit the city/suburban limits, and simultaneously the traffic light had changed.
My S4 was at least 5 car lengths ahead (i chose not completely push my Imola Tip since we were on CITY streets, not the track) and I decided to go WOT.
I left him eating my exhaust and stuck 2 traffic lights behind me as I decided to exit the main road/street (Rte 611 N). Up to the end, he was trying to make that Firebird do something. It couldn't - it's WEAKSAUCE.
A Formula, or Trans Am (from that era) might have been a different story.
Also, THANK GOD - No Philly or Montgomery Ctny Five-O (police) were around peforming their end of the month revenue generation duties.
