Default Did you use a bit longer length bolt ... A bit more detail on the fix ...

thru fender would be really helpful man. Thnx!!. I will try that first. Never done tapping before. Will leave that to some professional when it comes to that.

Default take off your wheel....there should be a hole to the right about 6 inches from the bottom...

take a flat head and pop that gromet off....I used a magnetic tip to lay the nut on the bolt, then I stuck a 17mm 12 point wrench in there(or maybe a 19mm), sinceyour threads are pretty much totally stripped it should just spin and tighten the nut and the bolt together...the existing bolt is long enough, the first time always takes the longest...after that is pretty much easy...make sure you have that greomet in your S4, I know my b5 a4 did, if not you need to make a hole

It's actually a 13mm...unless your car is one different than all.

Oh, you are SCREWED!!! You better hope it taps out. That bolt is pretty important. Good luck

Default I may not do my own work on my s4 but I have built a few classic cars.

And with a helicoil it will hold better. I never like retapping a hole it never holds as strong. With a helicoil you just enlarge the hole and insert the helicoil and its back to its proper size

Default We see this a lot. Good ole impact guns in the wrongs hands.

Definately try to retap the original hole to clean up and hope it holds. But this an important hole as it holds the subframe, so if it is marginal I would take other measures.

If totally fubared, you can have the hole (12mm Original) converted to a 1/2" SAE thread. Note this will require a tapping handle with an extension to get up in there.

If you are local to NJ, swing by and we can help.

Good luck

heli-coil would not work for this one...heli coil is great, but does not always work
