As for a shop in the washinton/VA area, put a post up in the regional forum, I'm sure someone there will help you out.
Take a look at the sensor first, if thats not it, it sounds like you have a boost leak which is harder to diagnose.
This is how you do a pressure test, the write up is for a allroad which has the same motor

I have a little under 100k miles now. Chip was mapped by AutoThority. I have never seen the temp guage do anything out of the ordinary. I will start with replacing the temp. PITA pain in the ***, i like and don't feel so stupid now. Another question for all of you whop have chips, What kinda of PSI are you getting at full throttle. How much is too much. Am getting probaly a little more than double of the factory setting. I dont want to kill my stripper. Thank you all again!

For what its worth, mine was chipped (GIAC) at 101,000 and shortly thereafter it started to fall on its face under full load. Turns out the spark plugs were the original plugs and the gap had eroded to ~0.080". Everything worked much better with new plugs. (Still get the occasional misfire detection, but seems to run fine except for a part throttle tip in issues which I'm assuming is the chip)
Don't want to over simplify, but if the plugs haven't been changed, you may want to start there. Clear all your codes and see what comes back.

Sensor and pressure test thread links are way helpful. I haven't fully read though the pressure test yet but have a question about the temp sensor installation. When finally installing the new sensor after cleaning the receptacle that the sensor fits in he notes to add a little water do avoid trapping an air bubble. It doesn't look like the sensor actually touches any coolant but sits in a bowl shaped (receptacle) that is not conformed to the nipple shaped brass tip of the sensor. Would also figure the sensor and receptacle getting some kinda hot would vaporize the water and create unwanted pressure and or moisture within the O-ring sealed sensor tip receptacle area.? Gonna see if I have the older black or new green sensor. Looks like a bitch to get to and out but for 15 bucks and a couple hours I'll try this one first. Many thanx

Its actually really easy to do, just take the accordian hose part of the intake off, slide the clip out, remove and replace the sensor.
Should only take 20 minutes tops. just pour a little water water in if youd like, i dont think its critical and only the nipple at the end of the sensor is acutually in the coolant when installed.
