Default Suspension Advice

I just bought an 2001 S4 Avant with H&R coilovers. When I drove the car in Colorado it was brilliant but on the Montana roads I'm feeling pretty beat up by the suspension. I also discovered one of the fronts has been leaking.
I'm just using the car as a daily driver and don't do anything fancy.

The dealer's estimate to go back to stock was about $3400--clearly out of the question.
Any thoughts about going back to stock springs with a different type of shock?
thanks in advance,

John

Default You could do a StaSIS tracksport with adjustable rebound

It would be cheaper than $3400.

if you want it, you can get the stock suspension on the cheap from others who've upgraded.

Default Koni's on stock shocks will be pretty plush. Bilstein's will be firmer...

...ride height on stock springs is way high. Also, may have trouble finding just stock springs, but you can pickup a complete used OEM setup for a couple hundred. A set of KONI's or Bilstein's are probably around 350 or so.

Default Yeah. I've got my stock stuff kicking around in my mother's garage somewhere.

I don't plan on using it ever again.

Me too. It's the base of the mountain of parts in my basement.

Default pss9's seem to be a safe bet. Going back to stock shouldn't be more than....

$300 for used stuff.

Given our roads and my age plush sounds better.
I'm going to have the dealer try to adjust the ride height up--initially they told me it wouldn't help/work but I talked to H&R and I might be able to raise the car 1" --
Did you mean Koni's on stock springs?
