Suspension clunk. Need some help.
Heard a loud metallic clunk from the right rear suspension, and now it happens over every bump on the road. I initially thought that some of my lug nuts had backed out (they were tight), but I jacked that corner up and I'm able to push the tire down a couple of inches which replicates the metallic clunking. Am I suppose to be able to push the tire down when it's at full droop?
The suspension (otherwise) behaves as it should. Damping and rebound is fine.
I'm guessing it's a busted bushing up top. Any ideas? I realize this isn't much to go on...
TIA

have u (or anyone) lately removed the struts from the housing?
that top bolt that holds the strut into the housing, if its not tightened all the way can make some horrific noises..i forgot to torque that bolt once after some rear suspension work and made the same noise u speak of..torqued it down and all better.

I think you may be right...
The noise is coming from the very top of the strut, even above the top control arm. When I'm driving, it's almost as if it's coming from inside the cabin. Thanks!

yeah, you dont even have to take the wheel off to tighten it, takes literally 15 seconds...
just jack it up enough to get clearance and you can see the only bolt that goes threw the housing, grab a couple wrenches or whatever u have handy and see if it will turn.
