Which suspension will give me the best ride-comfort/handling performance ratio?

I just picked up my 2001 S4 Avant with HR Street CO's..(sedan not Avant specific were installed) Drove this car 2,300 miles home over every road imaginable.
Impression
1. Much Stiffer than my Koni C/O's I had on my 1.8t Avant, Which I have been driving at 25.5in for over 2 years.
2. I thought that I had ultras, especially on an uneven road with expansion joints/Patches. Even thought I had the ultras for a while until I check the P/N. (taken off the invoice so I did not veryify what was on the shock body)
3. There was still Supsension travel when going over Speed-Bumps etc...
So I think that my conclusion was (other than the increased spring rates) Gas vs. Oil Charged shocks. My Koni C/O's with Neuspeed sway bar (stiff) was a perfect street set-up, very forgiving, but stiffened up when pushed. I've done a couple of canyon runs on these and they held up just fine.
If you are looking to be planted on the road, and retain a smooth ride I'd go for a Koni/Spring Combo. I'd say the Status Street Sports, but I searchend and found mixed reviews. For me it's Koni on my next car. My new ride just feels stiff!! (unless there is something in my suspension I dont know about, I am the second owner)
