Default Sway Bar Question

Im looking for a front sway bar for my s4. i currently have a rear neuspeed 19mm sway. i know eibach makes a front one for our cars...i was just wondering if i could run the front eibach sway as well as the nuespeed or if anybody knows any other alternatives. thanks in advance.

Default What are you trying to accomplish with the front sway bar?

Our cars already understeer. The rear sway bar counteracts this (somwhat), as well as body roll. If you add a front sway bar it'll be back to understeer.

Try an Autotech 32mm hollow bar for B5 Passat for something different.

i herd that with a front sway as well as rear it would reduce body roll even more.

Default Larger front bar is going to exaccerbate understeer

Unless you're looking at reducing the size of the bar (if so, starting looking at A4 take offs), which will help with oversteer, it won't do much for that feeling of body roll.

The sway bar is only part of your issue. You've got to take into account the rest of your suspension set up as well. If you're looking for a low dollar upgrade without doing the rest, don't spend your money on the front bar.

i already have H&R street coilovers, the rear neuspeed sway, and dts bar...i just herd that a front sway would reduce body roll even more and wanted to look into it.

Default I still wouldn't recommend it

I'd upgrade your springs/shocks before doing the front bar. It won't matter how much the car seems to lean when you're pushing off the edge of the road. Understeer will be a bigger thorn in your side than a mild improvement in lean; the cons exceed the pros in this case. IMHO, you should figure out your springs and shocks before delving into sway bars.

Default Yup, at some point you max at understeer & start stiffening the front to limit camber/toe change

in turns. This also negates more roll. I went with the Neuspeed front for those reasons only to discover it is the same diameter of the stock bar and uses the same rubber OEM bushings. Changing the bushings from rubber may be a lower budget fix for your reasoning but be prepared for squeak squeak. Think of a 22mm to compensate.

Default what you're really doing is:

limiting the suspension's travel so that whatever bump steer there is will not become a factor. Bump steer is not a bad thing... when the change in toe is near zero or a little toe in for stability on an acting force (not to mention the reduced slip angle on corner entry). Remember, toe-out is a NO NO in any sort of bump, much less in a static environment for a street car. What one might want to do is take the time to setup the car and play around with the mounting location of the steering tie-rod. I'm not sure if there is anything to be gained in the inclination of the hub. It's a street car for crying out loud!

Body roll is not a bad thing guys.

Some like it tight, even on the street.
