and he told me that the garrett chip was just a knock off of theirs and was not going to bw as smooth. I realize you've gotta take it with a gain of salt coming from MTM but have you guys experienced or been told the same. Ill be honest, Im leaning that way after learning that MTM is made in Germany and has 300 certified dealers in Germany for MTM. What are your comments?

You mention:

This is all fine and dandy, but the fact is that a chip developed for the European market will not work in an S4 in North America. So, who actually does the tuning on the N.A. MTM chip? From what I've read, the early MTM "M" chip had some pretty major driveability issues and it took some time to get them resolved as Hoppen had to work with MTM in Germany to resolve them. So it took quite a bit of back-and-forth to get the problem resolved. Similar situation with Abt and their "importer" AMS. I understand that AMS does all of the final tuning on the chip for the N.A. market. So you may think you're getting a "pure" German Abt chip, but what you're actually getting is an Abt chip that's been "re-tuned" for the N.A. market by AMS.
