Default Teaser pics of the car... well sorta

My fab guy has the car right now and is in the final stages of building the cage. The dash bar is temporarily going to be out until I can get the rest of the wiring and dash accessories out of the car to make room. I'm running into a time problem because the car has to be at WSIR Friday morning.

Tubing specs are: 1.75" X .120W.T. Chromoly

Half is welded, half is just mocked up.

Enjoy:

The X-Bar's final mounting place will end up being tied into the main hoop triangulation corner with the other tubes.

Yikes!

Door bars are bent, but not mocked up in this picture. The door bars are similar to the ones used on the Audi Touring Car, but they fit with the door panels in place!

Default looks good...

glad you are putting in a cage, still sort of baffled as to why you're doing this instead of a race car but it looks pretty good. Are you getting NASCAR bars and a net?

Default looks nice

why not pull the door panels and go with nascar-bars? Is it becoming a full-blown racecar?

Default I'll run the Audi in SU late this season.

This car is an exercise for developing some of the same components that will go on the next race car. It's a perfect happy medium for me since work keeps me on the other side of the country 95% of the time. If I didn't have work, this car would have already been dipped and put back together.

Originally I bought the car to keep in NYC and planned to hit the weekend events at Limerock, Watkins Glen, etc..., but after it got stolen recovered and repainted, I figured it'd make a better CA track *****.

I'm still looking for a possible GT1 car.

BTW, NASCAR bars are heavy and not mandatory.

*edit*... yes, I'm getting a net
