Default Testament to Hitachi MAF sensor reliability.

Like the ones found in later model S4s. Not saying that all Hitachi MAF sensors are the same, but I did a tune-up on my fiance's '89 240SX and low and behold found a Hitachi thin wire MAF sensor in it. Gently cleaned the wires(thermistors), air cleaner temperature sensor, cleaned all electrical contacts, replaced the air filter, spark plugs, and O2 sensor. This is the original MAF sensor with 160k miles and the car still runs great. (knock on wood) So there is something to be said for the robustness of the Hitachi thin wire MAF sensor.

I think it's more a testament to the bullet-proof 240SX. Great car, I really miss mine.

Default Well, mine had 75k and in that time I only replace the starter motor for all of $75. Never a

problem otherwise and at 75k miles, my $8500 Nissan rattled less than my $42000 S4 at 12k miles.

Default Yeah, the motor itself seems pretty solid...even when neglected.

Changing the alternator was a bitch, but do-able. Trans slips a bit, but still works.
