can't speak to the GMs but some of the Mopar guys run the GM 350 series with adapters and build them the same way.
How much HP were you pushing and I may be assuming incorrectly that you were running "better than stock" components in the performance-built ones in the first place...

I agree that "good, solid shifts" are good. I was pointing out that one of the killers is shifts that are "too hard" for a given trans.
FWIW, Most of the trans were TH350s, eventually went to a TH400. Many upgraded parts and roughly 525HP. (so same ballpark some of these guys want to run with their S4s. )

drive and with soo much traffic, one is not usual able to get the car out of second gear. Drives me nutty

more appropriate for a "sports sedan". I would have bought either but found a car I liked for the right price and it happend to be a tip.
