reset codes with VAG-COM instead. If you don't have vag-com...
then I'm not sure if that disconnecting the battery trick works or not. In my experience, limp mode was reset when the car was restarted.
In any case, unplugging the battery for <5 minutes should only reset the clock and the auto up/down windows feature. To re-enable that feature just hold the switch in the up position for ~2 seconds with the window closed.
