Is there a good "OEM replacement" panel airfilter out there at PepBoys/Autozone/Advance? Haven't

Since Mann and Mahle are the big German air filter manufacturers it is likely outsourced to them. Which would make them as good as any OEM filter.

but they seemed decent. I know that the Purolator ones you get currently seem better than the older style but the problem is that they don't have the hot glue support "stripes" and they can deform easily if they get damp.
The STP air filters may be the same source for less $ than Purolator based upon me checking the box but haven't used one of those. (I got some Mann filters from carmadillo.com for like $12 each, so I stocked up and am set for quite a while...).

style Purolator in my 2.8L 30V B5 Passat (but I put some homebrew support stripes on the filter element to stiffen it up).
