Default There is no 60k service!

For whatever reason I was under the impression that the timing belt and water pump needed to be changed out at 60k on a 2001 S4, this is just not true. I looked at the maintanence manual and on page 8 it says that the ribbed belt/vbelt be replaced at 80k. The timing belt is replaced at 105k.

Why are peeps suggesting that at 60k water pump and timing belt be done when audi does not suggest it. Also logged on to myaudi at audiusa and it has the same maintanance schedule. What gives?

Audi says 105k, but people are doing it at 60k so that it doesn't break and take out the motor.

Default It is recommended by folks here for preventative purposes.

105k miles is pushing it, and if that belt ever breaks you can kiss the engine good bye.

Default Well that makes me feel better about doing the service

I just do not want to do a service that is not required and **** $$$$$ away. Breaking the motor would be a very bad thing to do!

Default on that note, if a timing belt breaks before the actual maintainence period is up and your engine

grenades, does that mean you get a new engine under warranty (presuming excess of 50K miles)?

I would think if they trace it back to the timing belt, and their recommended change interval is double the time period, then you'd have a good if not GREAT case!

Default When is it recommended that the fuel filter be changed? Or is it lifetime... ?

As Audi would have you believe since its not listed to be changed at ANY service interval.
