For whatever reason I was under the impression that the timing belt and water pump needed to be changed out at 60k on a 2001 S4, this is just not true. I looked at the maintanence manual and on page 8 it says that the ribbed belt/vbelt be replaced at 80k. The timing belt is replaced at 105k.
Why are peeps suggesting that at 60k water pump and timing belt be done when audi does not suggest it. Also logged on to myaudi at audiusa and it has the same maintanance schedule. What gives?

I just do not want to do a service that is not required and **** $$$$$ away. Breaking the motor would be a very bad thing to do!

grenades, does that mean you get a new engine under warranty (presuming excess of 50K miles)?
I would think if they trace it back to the timing belt, and their recommended change interval is double the time period, then you'd have a good if not GREAT case!
