Default I would imagine........

Have you ever tried to mount a water pump with a gasket that isn't sealed to the water pump?
Of course, you never know with germans.

I used gasket sealant witch also helped the install as it kept the gasket on its place.

Default Make sure you use the type of sealant that is made to be used ALONG existing gaskets.

Some of these sealants are made to BE the gasket. Avoid those. I accidentally used one like that on my A4 waterpump once and it formed a double gasket which leaked. Foruntately for me the waterpump on my A4 was designed to be removed independently of the TB so I was able to fix it. If it starts to leak on yours, you'll have to do the entire job...TB and company all over again. :-/

Also, if you use the gasket sealant, make sure to ue the thinnest amount (similar thickness like the film of oil on the oil filter) just to help hold the gasket in place. Pep boys should carry various types.

Default nah, don't worry about it. unless you want to use a bit of gasket dressing to have it located for

ease of install.

Changed my pump and it came with a new METAL, crimped gasket..no sealer required. Mine is fine.

Default No silicone... it will leak eventually, use (more)...

...Gaskacinch... I think that is what it is called. The one used for aircraft is the one a respected engine builder I know recommends.

Only the best for our cars... right?

I understand that one should not use any sealant on the WP gasket however...
