Was thinking about turbos and all... break in period for new turbos?

So.. still breaking in my new car and reading up on these turbo failure poll that gets posted every fifth one down and came across the idea of "breaking in" the engine components.
The turbo is a really high spinning piece of equiptment that has a high function in the engine for the vehicles performance. If a turbo failed and they replace it with a brand spanking new one. Shouldn't we take it easy on the turbo for the first 1k miles?
The old turbos are designed different and they changed the design for the newer models. Apparently something is wrong for them to make a modification to the system, larger oil holes so I heard but may not be correct. When they change the turbos, wouldn't you think that they would apply the new modifications? Not just swap the turbo with the same model, put in the new model turbo and change the hoses and such.
My mind is wandering.. is it going the right way?

also doesn't mean anything was wrong with the previous parts..just because they redesigned something
it could be nothing, a band-aid fix for a bigger problem or.......?
and yes they should be changing the hoses anyways
just to be certain that the parts are all fresh and not damaged
