Thinking of pulling the trigger on TiAL 650 kit.......is the general consensus is that
if I run a conservative tune w/ boost dialed down that I will be fine running a FULLY STOCK motor, no rods, no head/cam work, ect??
Or would it make more sense to save up the money and build the motor so I can see the full potential of the Tial kit+custom tune?

personally, I'd do it all...
but if you wanted to keep the boost low and only make about 500chp, you'll have a fairly reliable setup. Obviously, the higher the mileage, the more I'd be concerned about having problems down the road, no matter what turbos you run in stage 3. You're going to expose any weaknesses the second you go stage 3.
If you're interested, I'm considering selling my 650 kit so I can build my 2.0TFSI a bit further. It's pretty unique since I ceramic coated the exhaust sides and shipped them to Tial for an upgraded wastegate design from Johnny Bravo..

If you are staying with a stock block, stick with Ko4's (RS4 or RS6, although you'll have to limit
boost some with the RS6's).
Build the engine if you want to run the Tials. You'll be pushing the stock block to its breaking point with the tials. And you'll have to limit boost to the point where you are not really taking advantage of them. You'll be just as fast, if not faster (because of spool) with K04's on a stock block.

Mike, expect a call from me sometime later today, even though I'm sure I'll get Prince who answers
I duno if you recall, but my early 2000 is still under 65k, all major maintenance is done minus TB job
I'm glad you posted, as I was going to have you tune it for me!!
Last time I talked to Prince, he said that you had bought these and another set of turbos for the Silver beast and hadn't decided what route to go yet, have you guys tuned a set of 650's yet??

Honestly, I was planning on RS6's all along, but those seem to be the "new" KO4
so now I want something that few are running....I know there is a handful w/ TiAL kit......Nigel, Mike from WMS and maybe three others on the board....

cool, but I actually went home for the day...not feeling so good...
if you want to ring me tomorrow, I'll be available.
I never tuned a Tial car, but I can't imagine it being any more difficult than doing the RS6 hybrids..On the other end of the spectrum, I've tuned GT kits, that can make more power.
anyway, just try and see what kind of budget you have so you know what you're getting into. If you don't crack open the block and heads at that mileage and keep the boost conservative, I see you spending around 10k dollars.
