Does anyone here have any insight from switching from a B5 S4 to a 2010 GTI?

Need a new daily driver with better fuel economy.

Am I making a mistake?

Can't go wrong with a gti. If purely as a daily driver I would do it. Less maintainence and costs. However, performance-wise, while fun and sporty you'l never match an s4. Getting a gti above 300whp is very expensive, and fwd blows. I love the 2.0t though. It's an amazing motor. My buddy has one and he loves it, very quick with a few upgrades, but he always regrets not buying an evo because he cant hook up. he slips 1-3 gears. and hes only making around 280whp. But like I said, as far as daily drivers go, GTIs are as enjoyable as it gets.

Yeah, if you're looking for a new daily driver, those are great cars. If you plan on modding it more than, say, an exhaust and chip, I'd just keep your S4.

Personal preference but I'd look at the Mazada Speed 3 before the GTI (about $11k less) and I'd keep the S4.

the speed 6 is a closer comparison to an s4. its AWD, and cheaper than a speed 3. a little harder to find though
