Default For those that change their own oil while on rhino ramps, how full do you fill?

does being on the incline of the ramps show less oil than when back on level ground? It seemed as such for me tonight.

Default Probably.

I dump in 7 bottles, disconnect the ignition amps on the airbox, crank the motor in ~10 second bursts or so for about 30+ seconds. Pre priming is a good thing

Reconnect amps, start car, check for leaks, back off ramps, let it idle, turn engine off, wait a few minutes, top off as needed.

Default Just put in 6 1/2 qts. Then drive it for a day or so and recheck.

Won't hurt anything to be 1/2 qt low.

Default

I put 6.5 qts. in. Then take car off ramps, re-check, and top off as necessary.

Default No need for that...

just fill the new filter 1/2 to 3/4 of the way up before installing.

Default That's more messy work, maybe if it was vertical :)

I collapsed the lifters once quite a while ago doing a change with something less than a 1/2 quart in the filter. Sound made me sick to my stomach, was about to cut the ignition when they pumped back up.

It was the only change it had happened on, maybe I let it drain too long, but after that I started doing the preprime with the starter.

Takes less time for me than filling the filter by hand and I like the dead silent normal start after a change.

YMMV, TEHO, etc

Default I must have done 15 oil changes in this car and I've never primed the filter

and I've never had excessive noise on start up.

Default It was just that once, usually it was just an instant if anything.

IIRC, that change was done on a hot motor and I got side tracked and let it drain for over an hour. It was last year sometime.

Pulling the four connectors on the airbox is quick and easy and makes me feel better. No oil consumption at 103k so it doesn't hurt. Though you've got me beat in the mileage game
