Default I had the dealership do it since it was no cost. It took about an hour. (m)
I don't believe there is any welding involved. There are some plastic covers that they supply for over the harness point which would be visible if you kept them on. They would make an indentation in the fabric over time I would guess so I took the plastic cover off. Without the cover the metal part is not visible.

Yeah, plastic cover creates a crease in my leather seats. I might take mine out as well.
