No idea at all as to why mine is doing it but I haven't really tried to fix it yet.

It looks like the DICE FM-RDS model, while not line in quality, does generate RDS information so the radio and dash get artist and song name. This might be worth sacrificing a bit of audio quality and control (obviously pre/next CD buttons don't work with this) to get the song shown.

Just wanted to document this for future people hunting.
