For those of you at Stage 3-, how many have custom software, and how many run a regular Stg. 2 pgm?

Default I would hardly consider your current setup "full stage 3" Michael... it will be night and day when

you go real stage 3.

Default Went from Giac X to Giac 3- and it was completely worth it.

Giac X on K04s isn't too much fun IMO. Boost comes on hard, spikes around 20-22, and then drops back down to 14, or whatever it should be at. Once you pass 5k, the car quickly starts running out of power. I rarely shifted above 6k.

Purchased a used Giac 3- setup (which I see there is one in the classifieds right now) and the car feels totally different. Power comes on smooth without a boost spike, and it stays on until redline. I think you get 2-3 psi over Giac X, so it's not like going from stock to stg 1. If you are going long term on K04s without fueling, I'd definitely suggest getting either a custom tune, or Giac 3- specific tune. Maybe your APR code will work fine for K04s, but Giac X was teh suk.

I think dollar for dollar, the Giac 3- setup is tough to beet when you consider you could sell your APR Ecu. But if you really want max power on K04s with stock fueling, then a custom tune is definitely the way to go.

Default Save your money. Used fueling kits are getting cheaper, and it will be hard to sell the 3- code.

You *WILL* eventually convince yourself to go full stage 3. I repeat, you *WILL* somehow, some way, ingore all logical and financial obstacles and find a way to justify it to yourself. Minimize the insanity by not spending extra money for the intermediate steps now.

Really though, not being able to sell the 3- code is a real deal breaker. Just post once asking if anyone has any used 3- code to sell and you'll get 5 desperate guys who "can't believe they upgraded after they swore they wouldn't," ready to drive it to your house with a bow on it if they have to. They can't get rid of them.

Default I ran APR K03 code with my K04's and would advise against it.

I ran into plenty of throttle cut issues, especially in the summer time when it was hot and humid. I believe it wasn't any faster than a healthy stage 2+, maybe even a little slower due to all the TC. I've read that other K03 codes are more compatible, but I would never have done it again. IMO, either go custom tune 3- or go full fueling.

Sounds like a plan. Let me know when you are in the area and we can meet up for a drink/etc...

Try an MBC in parallel to limit boost spikes?
