an improvement over stock brakes is there with your new brakes? I guess fade is one area that's improved but what about stopping distance? Has anyone actually tried to measure the improvement? I think the stock brakes are excellent for daily use. I've used them hard a few times (thanks to some a$$holes - plenty of 'em out there) and they always exceeded my expectations in terms of stopping distance (i.e. I always stopped before I thought I would). For a car this heavy, that is some awesome braking power! I think braking is one of the most important things on a car for many reasons, safety being the most important. In emergency situations, even 3 feet is alot. So, how much more can this be improved with upgraded braked?

That's my fear... just because you have good brakes doesn't mean the guy behind you knows it.

Just cause we can does not mean the guy behind can. You are so right. I've gotten used to checking my mirrors whenever applying a lot of brake.

By far the biggest factor in braking distance is the tires. The stock brakes have enough clamping force to lock up the tires even at triple-digit speeds.
If the big brake kit changes front/rear bias then the rears may lock up earlier than stock, causing ABS to engage more and slightly lengthening the stop. Also, if track pads are used on the street the pads will not grab until they are hot. This increases stopping distance unless the brakes are engaged frequently.
In an ideal case, the big brake kit is properly designed for the S4 and comes with a street pad. In this scenario the braking distance will be the same as stock. There are only 2 advantages to a big brake kit: looks and fade/heat-resistance. If you never go to a track event or push hard on twisty roads then looks are the only benefit.
