Default he said he logged 3rd gear apr 104 runs to his 3 gear pump (as i read it, at least) awe runs. The

awe pump was marginally faster.

Default It was a bad F-hose, ill running MAF and I think the programming.

I know when i fixed the f-hose, maf and tightened a couple clamps that looked suspect...it ran a lot better....but was slow on race gas with those problems. I almost got out of the car back then because of it.

Default True.....it is tough to really gauge the performance.

But....I know if I go to the strip an run 106 in the traps....then make some changes and run 113....it's gonna be running pretty quick...heheh. When you're tying to determine if a car is fast from a 4.02 or 4.3 time in a certain internval....I think that's a little harder....especially without very accurate equipment anyway.....either way, i just want my turd to run good for what's on it and that's it. It doesn't have to be the fastest, but it better perform accordingly to the mods installed.

Same car, same day, same place, multiple runs?

Default Once you start getting more reference points it becomes something

1/4 mile wouldn't mean a thing if many hadn't run before to give a benchmark of sorts.

If you are out running 4.5-4.6 in the 3rd gear test, swap to another kit and start running 4.9s on the same road 30 minutes later it's probably a bit slower, then switch to a 3rd kit and suddenly you start running 3.4-3.5s, it becomes more meaningful.

At least as something better than the butt dyno.

Default Was he sure he was running 104 octane? I ran the 104 octane prgm on kinda suspect

octance and it ran slowwwwwwww. Car was pulling timing and boost. Then I ran the beta program on that same fuel on the car was fast...don't know what happened. All I know was I was able to beat a friend's ZX turbo that runs atleast 113 in the traps from 40-150 and I missed 4th gear. It was only by a fender....but I was a 1.5 cars ahead at the end of 3rd til I booted the shift. Same care put a few lenghts on me after I'd pull initially when I was on the 104 program running suspect.....Now, if i could figure out what the hell i did to make it run like that.

Default Yep, its all about the assurance that you're car is running appropriately. That's why

I'm so concerned about people lying about the FATS scores. It only hurts them. I like it because it is waay more convenient that going to the strip, since I can make a change and try it in the same conditions. Every couple weeks at the strip is too long for similar conditions, and the S4 usually breaks about that time interval as well.

That is very true. Very easy to find a place for a 3rd gear pull here.

Default Agreed.....I guess from my experiences with different cars, I just like measuring

more than one gear....Just from running the beta and production software I can tell a significant difference between gears. Third gear is faster with one, 2nd w/ the other.....Hmm....I guess it's easy enough to measure 2nd, 3rd and 4th (gears I'm concerned with) as well if you're trying to test different stuff for one specific car.

thats the thing about the FATS test, is the ability to skew numbers so easily
