Default Throttle adaptation question...

Installed MTM-equipped ECU last night (says with big-@ss grin!)

Could clearly hear the throttle position motor (for lack of better
nomenclature) "calibrating" for the first minute or so per setup
procedure. I take it that this "calibration" I heard is referred to as
"throttle adaptation", and this procedure is what is "initiated" by the
VAG tool.

Given Audi recommends an adaptation when the ECU is replaced, I
assume this "calibration" I heard is *not always* initiated in every
car - so it may be the VAG tool guarantees this procedure is initiated.
Again, just my assumption - any one know this?

What in addition to this "calibration" (I heard) is performed by the VAG
tool? If something more occurs, then it makes clear sense to have
*any* ECU VAG'd after replacement. However, I wonder if it's necessary
at all to run an adaptation with the VAG **if this calibration is perceived
to take place** on ECU installation. Can anyone shed some light
on this?

Acceleration feels smooth right now so I assume the adaptation
was successful.

Regards,
Steve
