Default Tip tranny experts - anyone concur : there is no wrong way to install a TC ?

L10 claims the TC was installed too far on the needle shaft and into the pump, I'm struggling to think how that is possible. The TC is attached to the flex-plate and there is no way to vary the depth that I can think of... ?

I think the only way to screw it up is to miss putting the notches on the end of the TC shaft into the Pump Gear teeth - right ?

And in that case I think the bell housing wont fit on, or if forced the Pump Gear teeth will be sheered off in the process.

Any other opinions ?

Default Its funny because when i called them to ask about your problems before i could finish....

my scentence he said that it wont be an issue with my tranny they had updated that bushing. Hmm why would you update a non faulty bushing?

Default Not a tip expert, but the flexplate bolts to the tc and the tranny to the engine...

Fixed length of the install... sounds like a very unlikely circumstance.

Default May be of no help but...

on my TH350 the pump gear was put in backwards. This caused the TC to stick out too far, making it nearly impossible to bolt the engine and trans together, but no way I can think of to have the TC too far ONto the shaft.

Default That's a damn good idea - pretty sure it's symmetical, I'll double check when I get home - Thanks!

Attached picture is the old one

Yep - that's my thinking too, I can't think of any way to adjust or cause variation

Default Yep, that looks almost identical...

Although it is probably very similar on all automatic transmissions. You can see from your pic that the tangs on the gear are offset (front to back), so flipping the gear over would make a big difference on how the TC fits. Good ldck. Hopefully that is your only problem.
