Default Tip trans stronger than manual?

I am considering getting an '01 S4 and am wondering if I should get on with the Tip trans. I prefer stick but have read here about problems with synchros and am wondering if the Tip would be more reliable. I am a smooth shifter and don't drive a car hard so I wouldn't be harsh on a manual transmission but if they are fragile I will get the Tip. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Default ...and I wouldn't dare take on of those on a roadcourse or for a top speed run...

...that tranny would be sure to overheat quickly under those extreme conditions.

Default I know someone who's building a track specific one right now, but doesn't post here.

I'll see if he'll post updates on how it fares when its complete.

Default Do you think it's the heat alone that leads to the death of the tranny?

Couldn't someone just install some kind of tranny cooler?
