I have asked similar questions earlier, but all i recieved were ridiculously stupid responses so I'll ask again
1- I'm going to the drag strip next weekend with my friend, and how do i launch from a standstill to get the best time possible with my tip 2002 Audi S4 with GIAC ecu chip and tip chip?
2- Sorry, this is a newbie question, but when I'm at the drag, should i release the throttle while i shift, or just hold it down and shift at the same time?
i would appreciate real responses asap

and blip the throttle a bit as well, then push the brake down further. Now press the accelerator all the way down. watch your boost gauge, Once your about 8lbs let go of the brake and your off. Make sure ESP is off and dont hold the brake and acelerator for super long as it will damage the clutch packs and other **** as well.

But as with any automatic, your must learn to take advantage of torque braking, and the ability to control boost loss at shift time.
Keep in mind that on stock and most OTS software, ability to torque brake is a bit limited by brake on throttle cut.

Boost launch technique 101
1. Drive around the water traps and not through them.
2. Turn off ESP.
3. Have car in "D" when you approach the tree....light up the first and then the second staging light.
4. With your left foot depress and hold the brake pedal hard.
5. Shift into neutral and stab the throttle once to about 4k-5k. You should then feel the brake pedal go down a little further. Keep 'standing' on the brake pedal with your left foot.
6. Shift into tip mode and start bringing up the rpm's (and boost) to about 2100rpm just before it bogs.
7. Then let off the brake and a split second later go WOT.
Don't worry about your RT (reaction time) since you are just racing against yourself and trying to get the best ET possible. I've had reaction times of 5 seconds in my other car as I've tried to find the best launch psi that didn't light up all four tires and kill my ET's.![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

I can't get my boost to build much above 5 or 6 even using similar techniques. I do let off during my shifts because my tranny slips quite a bit between shifts. I am thinking about a valvebody upgrade. I have a 2400 stall speed. Good Luck and let us know how you do. My best 60' time is 1.9x, I am installing a MBC to try next time I go.
