Tiptronic Stall ??
Ok getting ready to send my tranny into level10 I need to know if anyone has a best guess as to which stall setting I should get on my converter. I think stock is 2000RPMs, since i am using k04's I think I am going to go with 3000RPMs. My friend was telling me that when you add k04's to a S4 that the 60 ft's suffer. I think the 3000RPM window will fix that problem, if not I can go slighty high but not to high I don't wanna rev my engine sky high in traffic to get it to shift.

wow! Finally meet someone who's doing this!
What are they doing, and how much is it costing??
Thanx from a fellow Tip owner!
BTW, did you tipchip it? and/or after level 10, that doesnt matter.

well, remember when you brake torque a tip
you will launch with boost...not so in a manual car...where the slightly longer spool tiome of a KO4 might kill the right off the line launch...
what does level10 recoommend? btw, are you doing this on your own through them? or are you going through broadway auto? i heard rick had a customer who wa interested in doing a level10 upgrade...

Re: well, remember when you brake torque a tip
I am doing this through level10 but I was looking at dyno graphs for full stage III sticks, so the torque numbers are going to be about the same. I think I am going to stick with a 2500 RPM stall. I haven't had the chance to talk with sam again at levelten. I think he is going to recommend the same. Look at the dyno graph.

I know the best fit looks to be around 2800, but remember I want a street car as well I think I will be able to cut 1.6 60 ft's with a 2500 RPM stall converter... Watch out stick s4 guys the automatics are coming!

Yes level10, its going to cost around 4 g's but so worth it. Automatics at the track are super consistent and super fast!!! Watch out 6-speed guys!!

The trick is getting the engine to rev up to the K04 torque band
which it won't do under a stock torque converter. you need to let it slip a bit more to put less load on the driveshaft so you can rev higher on the launch. the trick is to keep the stall from being too high, because then it's slipping when you really want all your power going to the wheels

Level ten had given the following prices about 3 months ago.
Tranny upgrade ~$3800
TQ upgrade ~$400
Shipping, ~$450 they would pick it up, where ever you have the tranny and then delivery it back where ever you wish.
Total work time on the tranny was 5 business days.
I dont have the funds to have them do the work right now. Have the spare tranny but not the money ))
I was about 2600rpms as the stall speed. From what I gather, in every day traffic it doesnt come into play.
