Maybe I was wrong but searching through the forums maybe 1.5 years ago I thought I remember seeing that number.
Either way, I would definitely go higher than a 3kRPM stall on a converter. First off if you're going to spend all the money to do it, you might as well get a big stall.
I wouldn't go lower than 4k RPM truthfully. With AWD, you'll get good traction off the line, so just go with a high STR. Say something like a 3.0 or 3.5STR with a 4kRPM stall would feel pretty good I think.
With the higher STR it won't feel as loose and you shouldn't break the tires loose either. Basically, the trick to combat the loose feeling in a loose stall is to combine it with a high STR. Usually this is a balancing game as a high STR just hits the tires so hard it usually spins them. But with AWD, this is much more unlikely.
Give me the choice to have a custom built tranny and converter I would do something like a 4500RPM high stall with 5kRPM flash and 4.0STR.
