Default Tiptronic tranny leak -- NEED ADVICE, please

Hi,

If I need to repair a tip tranny leak, in most/all cases does the tranny need to be removed? Does the engine need to be removed to get the tranny out? If this leak isn't covered under my 3rd party warranty, I'm going to do the repairs myself...just wanted some advice before I dive in head first.

Thanks,
Keoni

Solution: Sell car, buy 6 speed.

Default I'll find out tomorrow (after-market warranty)

Paid good $ for the warranty, however, it's not an Audi warranty :-(

Default I think you're right--sell Audi and buy a G35 6-speed ;-)

I have to say, so far I'm pretty disappointed in my first Audi. My Lexus and Mercedes don't give me this much trouble! I was thinking of moving into a new 2003 S4, but I'm having second thoughts.

Default Sir! Thats not what I meant. I hope things get better for your S4. The 2003 shouldn't have anywhere

near the problems of the B5's, but I guess it's a little early for that.

tranny leaking... most likely a gasket problem... allot of aftermarket warrantys don't cover that...

Default Yes, that's what I understand...it's ok if the tranny breaks, THEN they'll replace gaskets

How much does a gasket job normally cost?
