Default Tire Bubble saga comes to resolution (Jim De Arras, please read)

Well, as many here will know, Jim De Arras inclusive, that I've had the a similar issue with the right front tire sidewall bubble.

After receiving NO help from the Firestone/Bridgestone Tire centers, and Audi for that matter, I took it to the local, non-Bridgestone dealer. This fellow went to bat for me.

The result is that now I get 50% of the value of the tire, and they have ordered me a new one (pending my go ahead).

My tire insides were black, with no chalky residue. There was a hole or as they say an "impact break" on the surface of the inside of the tire, directly lined up with the position of the bubble on the outside.

Now my question is this:

1. Should I go ahead and have them order the new tire.

2. Can I sell, upon receipt of the new tire, all five tires to a tire dealer for some compensation to cover purchase of 5 Dunlops or Michelins

3. Which is the place for doing this type of transaction (I live in Los Angeles)

4. How much money should I be getting for 3 tires with 8/32" tread, the spare was just put on so it is basically new, and the new tire that I will be receiving.

Thanks for all your help, much appreciated.

Default Your warranty proration should probably be toward any Bridgestone tire, not just the RE040

...so in that case, you may want to go after a set of S-02 PP's. I wouldn't look for much $$ for your traded in tires; you'd probably be better off trying to sell them to people who need a replacement RE040. Depending on your tire dealer's price, you may want to just buy one tire from him (with the credit balance from your damaged RE040) and buy your other tires from the cheapest source (e.g., TireRack).

Give me a call and I may be able to assist you as far as your new tires and the pro-rate from Bridgestone.
Thanks, Luke

ARGH I had the SAME thing happen. I have a bubble on my inner front right tire. 3500miles on the car.

I didnt hit anything, and only I drive the car.

Havent had a chance to call heishmans yet and see what they will do, but ugh.

Default Audi disavows the tires completely, good luck with Heishman's!

There's no trend, here. Nope, none at all.
