Tire de-treaded going 65......

Yeah, I just bought the car (certified) in August. The tire that came apart was part of the set that came with the car. Had car serviced for oil change 3 weeks ago, and also had them check/adjust the psi in all tires. They said it probably came apart bc of low tire pressure (ie too much sidewall in contact with road). Should I grow a pair and make the dealership pay for 1 of the 2 new tires they're mounting, since they're the ones who checked the tires just 3 weeks ago? (They're mounting a 2nd tire bc they said it was starting to do the same thing as the first tire). Should I make them also pay for the 2nd new tire? Why is this not covered by my certified warranty (2yr, 100k)?

3 weeks is a lot of time to pick up a nail or something that would cause a slow leak. Plus, if there were any significant temperature changes, that could also affect the pressure in your tires.
I'm not saying that they are absolutely not at fault, but the above is probably similar to what they will tell you, and it seems unlikely that you will be able to prove that they didn't properly inflate the tires.
As to your warranty, it specifically notes that wear items (tires, brake pads/rotors, clutch, etc.) are not covered.

Have a look at the inside of the tyre and see if it has ever been patched. If so, I'll bet it was run flat before now. That can cause it over time.

... bust out your wallet and go and get a new set of tires... you will be better off in the long run.
I suggest Pirelli P-Zero Nero M&S, 400 UTQG rated and is a very quiet tire... worked great on my A6 and equally well on my S4... IMHO great wearing tire as well.

... "my bad", as they say...
I misread your post and thought that you indicated he "got his car three weeks ago" when you were just citing an example of how his chances would be "better if"...
Doh !!!
