Default Tire Recommendations?

Looking for a good performing summer tire with decent wear and low noise for around $100p/tire.

So far one of the best tires that I had was the ST115 for these specs however I am coming off of a pair of Falken FK452s because of terrible noise. I figured they would be on par with the 115's and from day one they were more noisy than my the 115's were at the end of their life...now it sounds like a airplane in my car

At any rate a few that I've considered:

Somitomo HTRZ III or II
Exclaim UHP (based on the tread design it doesn't look to be too noise friendly)
Falken ST115's again (I've found a few sites that still carry them)
Potenza RE760 Sport (some have recommended it)

Is there any that I'm missing?

Are there any that you would exclude from the list given my criteria?

Any other feedback?

Right now I'm probably leaning towards the Somitomo's or ST115's again.

Thanks

read the customer reviews on sites like discounttiredirect. you can select the brands you like and get a little feedback it helps some. just keep in mind you have to sacrifice some where. it going to be hard to find a cheap, quiet, soft, long lasting tire. you pretty much get what you pay for. a cheaper tire will be made of harder rubber that will last longer but wont grip as well, may or may not be quiet i think that depends on tread pattern also. good luck

I definitely understand that there are going to be tradeoffs as with anything and so I'm willing to give a bit in the performance and wear area to get a more comfortable/quiet tire. I had good luck with the ST115 in the past but then I got the FK452's and they have been horrible so I don't want to encounter the same thing again....

Sumitomo HTR Z III. They are quieter than Yokohama Advans, Falken RT-615, and at the same level as Kumho MX. I'm not a good judge of noise because it doesn't really bother me. Grip is excellent. In California rain, they're not bad. I think these tires will last 25k miles. Good resistance to camber wear.

Cool...They are in the lead so far....anyone else have any thoughts on the Somitomo's?

I've run on Goodyear F1 GS-D3 for the last 3 years - they run pretty quiet until you get to the end of the treadlife when they start getting pretty noisy. Grip is very good as is wet handling.

If I had to buy new tires today, I'd probably go with Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec. Tire Rack has them rated #1.
