Default Tires?

Getting ready to put new tires on my S and want to know if 235/45/17 or 235/40/17 will affect the abs or anything else? Thanks

Default what type of tires are you looking at?

From experience if you are considering the SO3's (awesome tires by the way) then don't go any wider than the 225. They are wide tires and 235's are real close to rubbing.

Default Re: Tires?

Looking at the Falken Azenis 115, supposed to be quiet. Most of my driving is highway and some around town. My pilots are noisy but they do have 14,500 miles on them so I've been pleased.

Default Personal experiance....

... the 45 seemed mushy and reduced the cars handling capability from stock.

My setup;
Stock shocks (inadequate)
Eibach Pros (I am ready to step up to a diff spring)
SO3 235x40x17
Aggresive camber

Testing involved (both w and w/o ESP);

1 - Series of ~35mph u-turns (letting off/stepping on da gaz).
2 - Long windy/curvy roads.
3 - Hard cornering involving breaking/squating and gasing out of the corner.

Default Just put on a set of 234/45/17 Yokohama AVS DB on stock Avus wheels...

For comfort and quietness, these are probably the best but I had a very, very slight rubbing issue on the rear control arm. I will either have to live with it and when the rubber wears down a little, the slight noise will be gone or I will have to get spacers. As for handling, the tire is alot less responsive than the 225/45/17 Bridgestone S-02 tires. I guess comparing these two tires are like comparing apples to oranges. The bottom line is what type of driving do you do. If you want the best handling and are willing to sacrafice some comfort and noise, go with the S-03 but don't get anything bigger than 225/45/17. If you want ultimate comfort and quiet, go for the Yokohama AVS DB 225/45/17 because these are m&s rated tires. Anyway, hope this info helps you decide.
