Default Took out the ABS ECM yesterday to send off for repairs..

..damn it was easy! Took no longer than an hour by myself and I wasn't rushing. I took it out by removing the windshield wiper reservoir and went in through the wheel well.

How the hell does the dealer charge $600 labor for a total of an hour and half work to remove and reinstall? And they have a lift too!

Default Did the same thing. Repaired it, put it back in, and the warning lights are still on :((

Still no ABS, I hope i didnt waste my money on the repair job if it wasnt the controller. My symtoms were that of a failed controller. The warning lights (ABS and parking brake) would come on occasionally, then they stayed on.

No idea what to do next

Did you check the ABS fault codes before having it repaired?

Default because they probably replace the entire ABS unit - not just the electronic part....I don't think...

it should take them 6 hours to do it, but they're a bit more involved. They need to pull the hard lines going to the ABS pump and then rebleed everything.

If they are trying to charge that much labor to replace just the electronic part then it's time to find a different repair shop.

Default Yes, It threw two codes (m)

I think they were intermittent signal to ABS controller and rough road signal. Something like that... I did some STFA and came to the conclusion it was the ABS controller. Any thoughts?

Default Who did you send it to?

Based on what you're saying, the ABS controller is bad, so I'm wondering if the place you paid to recondition the unit didn't do the job properly. A few places have been mentioned on these forums, and people have not had good luck with some of those places.

Default Other than testing a working controller, I don't know.

Like I said, the symptoms you described are identical to what we generally see with a bad ABS controller. If you know someone nearby with an S, borrow their controller (assuming it's the same part #), and try it.
