Default heh, guess I should have quantified significantly....

Yeah, 2700 was what this other TC builder that I've been bugging was saying. Based upon what I was doing for driving, etc. He was a little hesistant to take on the job since he does basically only dragstrip cars.

Definitely not looking to go to 3000.... sorry about the confusion. I guess significantly to me means more than what the trans. shops around here have said to me when I asked them about this, which was, "don't need to really change the stall speed." which I kinda disagree with.

Default the stock converter is generally thought to have 1800-2000 stall. My VAST tc is 2300ish IIRC

feels -great- to drive.

Default I'm on my 3rd RS 6 Tranny (it is teetering as well) and I personally know many other who...

are on their 2nd+. The RS 6 tranny is just not up to the task, period. Consider yourself very lucky.

Default

Precisely how are they different? So far, the description sounds identical to GIAC

Default My 4/5 gear clutch and diff are having issues. Also I don't .......

know any one with a full stg 3 that dosent jump on the car at all, my TQ convertor in car works great, at the time vast was not maken TqC. I ( I wish they didI would have got theres) used a 2 bennett and it takes off great, I think like Goohead's my e-clutch and 4/5 gear is the issue of failing. Also I have a diff seal issue. I can see if you just drive the car normaly it will be ok, but my car has a fuel kit so I like to use the WTQ I have. Vast makes good stuff and they are one of teh few places I trust to work with alng with a couple others

Default That's just it. One is a Description -> Giac, and the other is the real deal -> VAST

What Giac claimed to do ,some years ago, doesn't present itself as well or as convincingly as the Vast chip. I've had both chips so I can actually compare them side to side. The Vast chip shifts faster and harder than the Giac.
Claiming is one thing...performing is another.

Default The E clutch pack is the smallest of them. The discs only measure 4.25 inches

in diameter with only a half an inch wide of friction material on both sides. This is the easiest place to overcome the trans holding power. Here's a picture of my burnt E clutch discs and steels.

Default Right now we are just concentrating on TC and trans programs but as far as the transmission stuff...

we only use the stock internals and if you have a good tcu program that can apply the pressure to the clutch packs then you won't have the slipping issues associated with these trans. Most people when they upgrade the turbos don't touch the trans so the factory tcu doesn't work as effectively as the Vast unit so over time slippage occurs.

Default I believe the stock stahl is 1800 and we go to 2300rpms now I can make a TC go to 3000 but that is

more of a drag setup then everyday driving. You will have the feeling of the trans slipping even thought it's not because of such a high stahl.
