Default Track goers, what wheels and tire width running?

Currently have koseis 17x8. looking to go 18 to upgrade front kit from 332 to 355 and also a little wider to accomdate wider tires. I am looking at getting a set that is 18x8.5 et40, I know for sure 235s will fit.anyone running 245 with no rubbing issues without having to sacrifice ride height? on any combo of wheel and tires.
thanks

Default Steve, a question.

Which car? On the B5 would you think that the added sidewall flex negates the extra tire patch achieved from going to 235 from 225?

I am going back and forth on 225-45-17 or 235-45-17 for track use.

Default you know what...

I think the RA1s I have are 225/40/18s...I got them from jyoteen just recently. I would just do the 225/45/17 on the B5 S4.

Default look at the section width in the specs of a tire. this is more important than the width designation

i run dunlop sp supersport 235/40-18 tires on the track. they run very wide for their size designation (about as wide as normal 255's). if you have normally rolled front fenders and stock rear fenders you can get away with about 10.2" section width at a 35mm offset on your wheels at a pretty low rideheight (24.75 or so) without significant rubbing.

Why run 225 on 8.5 width? Figure you can go wider at least 235. also what wheels?

Wide 225 seems to be the way to go. Too bad TR is out of Dunlops in 17" size.

Default I dunno...haven't put them on the car yet...just got them remounted after fixing them...

My ride height is pretty low in the back..so I may not fit 245s.
