Default Tranny STUCK in 2nd--need advice and help

When slowing, downshifting from 4th towards 3rd. BAD grinding upon attempt to enter 3rd. Attempt again, and again. No entry to third available. Finally get into 2nd after much grinding and drama. Clutch seems to work just fine, but cannot shift out of 2nd. I was able to drive home in 2nd--slowly. Any possible diagnosis? Warranty covers this I assume? ANY feedback will be much appreciated. AOL IM: blane6380.

Thanks guys.

Default Tranny is gone. gears probably stripped..

I just had my 1st and 2nd rebuilt. I had a similar problem, but ended up not being able to use 1st or 2nd. Every other gear seemed to work fine. It was covered under warranty for me.

I know several people that have had this done. Seems to be lots of tranny problems with this car.. =T

Best to take it into the dealer in the morning. Good luck.

Maybe the slider for that gear. Take it to the dealer if the car is under warranty.

Default Will Audi provide a loaner to drive while inspecting the damage?

Or should I say--SHOULD Audi provide a loaner to drive while inspecting the damage?

Default My dealer does, but I think it depends on the dealer. I would definitely push them to do so...

Could take awhile if they have to rebuild the trans...

That sucks. At least it is under warranty.
