Refilling the transmission this evening.

I understand that the capacity for the transmission should be 2.3 litres. I put more than 2.3 litres in and still the level was below the fill plug.

What's normal practice? To put in 2.3 litres or to fill to the level of the fill plug?

I've heard of using more than 2.3.I'm sure you're fine filling to the plug, whatever that level is.

From the Bentley manual:

"The prescribed oil level is to be adhered to exactly; the transmission reacts very sensitively to over-filling."

And:

"Specification: oil level 7 mm plus/minus 1 mm below bottom lip of oil filler hole."
