Transmission Whine ...
How many people under light throttle hear a "whoooo" sound... It fluctuates with the throttle.. I have been told that it is the diverter valves doing their magic, I've been told it has to do with your intake setup, which goes back to the diverter valve noise (especially if you are on a piston valve I have been told), and then recently on AZ a few threads have popped up in regards to the transmission which is to blame for the noise... If you DO hear it under light throttle (goes away in boost) is something WRONG... Anyone have some knowledge on that and can shine some light on what's actually going on.

If your just cruising a long, you diverter valves shouldnt be opening & closing. DV's shouldnt..
audible unless your coming off the throttle, even then, they should be quiet. A transmission whine doesnt seem normal to me, but Im no expert.

ahhh, that makes sense... so is that a bad thing, or just a normality? I have 101K and my tranny
shifts like butter. So, so grateful of that haha

it's not "good"...
Replacing the pinion flange bearing and driveshaft flange bearing (rear of transmission) helped eliminate most of the consistent highway whine (very annoying)
I still hear it sometimes, but its very minor.
However, at certain RPM ranges i have a very loud whine from the front passenger side cv/driveshaft, but goes away quickly.
It's on my huge list of **** to fix...

Funny enough I posted the same thing yesterday. Mine is in 5th and 6th only.
I have 103800 on the clock. It shifts fine through all six. I need to call the guy that usually does the work on the difficult stuff on Monday to see what he thinks.

I wouldn't worry too much about it unless it gets really bad (see video)
This obviously isn't my video, but sounds very similar to how mine was before.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUYbJkfu3EE</a
