Default Trouble symtoms that must be linked to one thing. Can anyone help?

Make: Audi S4 2001 6-speed

Trouble symptoms:
1) Door matrix:
When a door is opened the door matrix appears (as it should) on the dash. However, despite the driver door being closed, the matrix will indicate the appropriate open door and erroneously indicate the driver door.

2) Interior Dome Lights:
When the car is switched off and the key removed from the ignition, the interior lights will appropriately turn on. However, the normal action of opening a door will not trigger the dome lights, regardless of both interior light switches being centered. In addition, neither foot-well lights will illuminate.

3) Locks:
All doors will lock except for the driver door upon selection of the door lock button when the car is running and all doors are closed.

4) Alarm System:
With the car off and upon locking (via keyless or with key) the car will lock all four doors appropriately. However, the alarm never arms.

Wiring? Door latch? What does everyone think?

Did you do an underbody neon kit and drill into a wiring harness? :-)

Why not take it to the dealer?

Default The dealer checked it out but couldn't find the problem...

they did not, however, try replacing anything.

BTW, I've got no warranty so any hours with the dealer is $$.

Default Sounds like a busted door switch.

All the symptoms you described indicate the car thinks the driver's door is open. Indicator switch must be busted. Good luck.

Check the door switch first. If that is not it, then take a VAG-COM and check for faults associated with the interior alarms or the central convenience. If that does not do it, describe more symptoms. If the symptoms you described are all there is, I'd bet it is the switch or one of its associated wires.
