The truth? APR vs. Revo.

I'm not a lawyer
but I have enough conversations with them (have a couple of intellectual property lawyer friends). My sister is a lawyer too, so I'm just relaying my interpretation of what I've been told. Although, it should not be taken as applicable to all situations and as legal advice.

i'm not sure i follow you. what does your statement have to do with my sentiment?
from what i understand (and I heard about Revo being stolen from APR and *sold* to forge months ago)
the ex APR employees didn't technically *steal*
they broke their contract as APR employees...
but from what I got from it, the ex APR employees
have and have had EVERY intent to fully develop
and sell Revo for profit, which is exactly what
they are doing.
all i'm saying is...
i'm glad revo is being introduced to the market.
the way it was introduced sucks (available b/c of theft)
regardless, I'm hopefull this will be available
to the mass market at some point soon.
Jyoteen, don't you think it would be nice to
tune your Porsche yourself with just a laptop
and some software?
if APR wasn't gonna release it cause they didn't
want to... then... oh well.
if they were going to, but Forge/Revo beat em
to it by *stealing*... then that just sucks,
i'll be happy if the ability to tune my car
myself trickles down to me.

I'm just saying that the information gathered as work product from APR
facilitates Revo and their offerings is illegal and violates several agreements as employer and employee.
And as such, Employer has every right to claim monetary and other losses if work product and 'intelligence' winds up profiting another company. IMHO, that other company has no business making a single dime.
A lot of companies, such as VAG, Apple, Microsoft, IBM, Motorola have prototyped products in the name of research and data gathering. Some of those products are either for research or slated for consumer/industrial market. However, if they don't release that said product, it doesn't mean that it then falls into the realm of public domain for someone else to profit from. The employer compensates the employee for work and it is what is called work product and as such OWNED by the company/employer. The employee cannot take that work product and sell it to the market.

No, no, I didn't mean they shouldn't protect themselves using legal means, just that
there is also a practical solution to the problem. Particularly if they lose for some reason. I agree the Revo side seems VERY sketchy.
